Creating for Others

Follow "My Scarf Donations by Month" on flickr

After the Apple Cozy, I was itching for another project to start on. I was digging deep and finding great patterns online. However all this creating isn't as much fun as when you give them away as gifts. I usually think about who might want or benefit from my little creations and then design them around that person. Recently I've realized that there's others out there that are in need and maybe I can help. So I've decided to donate knitted/crocheted scarves to a non-profit organization called:

It's an organization run by Leslye Borden down in Southern California. They make and deliver "Comfort Scarves" to abused women. This year I'm making it my goal to create and donate a scarf per month–a very small contribution when I think about what these women have gone through (Above is an image of the first scarf I'm donating for January).

I hope you'll be inspired to donate with me :) or donate to other non-profit organizations in your area. To help you get started, here's a link of other organizations in need of your help:
